5 Tips for Dining Out Right
Dining out can be tricky when you are trying to keep to your goals. Here are five easy tips to help you stay on track and not get classified as antisocial:
1. Add more vegetables
Usually entrees at any restaurant come with a protein, starch, and vegetable. Opt out of the starch for the evening and go for a double dose of the vegetables. You will stay fuller longer and the vegetables will metabolize well, keeping you out of the “evening slugs.”
2. “Refill Please!”
In one word: DRANK! Seriously though, drink water; LOTS of water. Don’t be stingy either. Filling up on water will not only help you stay hydrated, it will also help you stay full so that you can control your portions better.
3. Don’t Go Hungry
Just like going to the grocery store, it’s not a good idea to go in hungry. It seems counter-intuitive, yes, I know; however, if you pop one hard boiled egg into your belly or even a string cheese (a little protein, a little fat), you will be less likely to OD on appetizers and fried goodies.
4. Talk MORE
The more you talk, the less you are likely to shove that fork into your mouth. Not only does it slow down the pace at which you eat, allowing you to fill up faster, it also makes you the most social one at the table… or annoying… either way, it helps you eat less.
5. Dress for Success
Think about it this way, if you are in an awesome pair of skinny jeans and a form fitting top that you feel amazing in (or a slim shirt and skinny jeans guys!), it’s going to force you to choose well. Why? A. Because you worked hard to get there and you feel good, so why ruin it?! B. Because you won’t have any room to expand in those jeans.
Try a few of these and we guarantee you won’t feel so trapped!
